THE FOX AND HOUNDS COMFORD – by Ruth Tremayne Harry with photos by Terry Harry

There’s a pub in the village of Comford
Now called The Fox and Hounds
Where all are welcome, even canines
Liquid refreshment and food abound

It used to be known as Comfort
And that’s precisely what it gives
A fabulously creative menu
A friendly ambiance still lives

It’s of course a listed building
And was the centre of the world
Within the richest square mile in the country
Its long history has unfurled

The earliest landlord on the record
Was in 1775
It has retained its inviting welcome
Undoubtedly why it has survived

We loved the bowl of water
Left outside for canine guests
And the food was so delicious
As its customers can atest
